L eonardo Da Vinci —1452* 1519† | was an endless seeker. For him, art was not a finished work, but a means to understand the world. Painting, anatomy, mechanics, botany – everything belonged together. For him, knowledge knew no boundaries between disciplines. His gaze was analytical and at the same time poetic. Leonardo observed with extreme precision: the movement of water, the movement of muscles, the play of light on skin. For him, drawing was thinking with the hand. Every line an attempt to find order in the visible. In his paintings, clear contours disappear. Forms merge into one another, light becomes soft, transitions fluid.
